| See also US patent 899,779. An example has been seen that is labeled with the US patent date plus "Yeates Gordon Co. / Hamilton, Ont." and "Yost Universal Vise". National Machinery & Supply Co. was already known as a maker of the Yost patternmaker's vise. Canadian Yeates Gordon Co. was a subsidiary of Yeates Gordon Co. of Meadville, PA. Based on the vises we have seen the National Machinery & Supply vises appear to be made from the same patterns as the Canadian Yeates Gordon vises, albeit modified to reflect the company name. Based on the visible wear in the lettering, the Canadian Yeates Gordon Co. vises appear to be earlier. |
