Description: |
The blade can be adjusted for length in relation to the handle; the end of the handle is serrated to insure its grip on a hot horseshoe during the process of fitting a shoe to a hoof.
A known example is marked with Pope's name and the patent date. A 1903 directory listing shows Wiebusch & Hilger, N.Y. as agent for Pope's Farrier Knives.
Corresponding Canadian patent CA-64945 was granted Nov. 16, 1899.
