Description: |
A cylinder tooth wrench with overall appearance similar to several contemporaries (e.g. 601,146, 644,676, 685,282, & 711,422). The unique feature is the use of "roller ratchet" to operate the socket.
W. H. George formed the EXCELSIOR THRESHER TOOTH COMPANY at Dexter, IA. The company's product line included cylinder tooth wrenches. A December 1902 ad for the EXCELSIOR CYLINDER TOOTH Wrench shows a sleek design with no obvious ratchet mechanism, which suggests this roller ratchet was employed. See also 731,886 and 755,293 for other W. H. George cylinder tooth wrench designs. |
