Description: |
Lever, chain and hook tool for compressing engine valve springs to enable removing the "keeper" and freeing the valve for dressing or removal.
Known examples marked FLEXIBLE VALVE REMOVER / PAT OCT. 22, 1907 perform the functions noted in the patent, but bear only a vague resemblance to the form shown in the patent drawings.
The tool as produced did not "tether" the hook and chain to the lever handle, so the hook and chain are "long gone" from nearly every surviving example. Maker names taken from 1909 and 1914 ads in automotive trade journals. |
