Description:
The jaw adjustment is held by a combination of clamping wedges which force teeth in the movable jaw against rack teeth on the main shank. The pipe gripping feature is a roughened cylinder which would wedge against a jaw face, and which can be swung into the jaw opening space when needed to grip pipe or other round work pieces.

Corresponding U.S. patent no. 569,037 was issued October 6, 1896.

A known example has hand stamped markings.
