The patent provides improvements to patent 632,678, granted to Herman Dock.This lathe attachment works by engaging a series of cutters that progress from rough heavy cuts to a fine finishing cut, which was claimed to produce the same quality results as a single-point finishing tool in less than a third the time. This attachment is shown in an advertisement in the June 30, 1910 issue of American Machinist; the ad was from the Rivett Lathe Mfg Co., and the tool was called the Rivett-Dock Threading Tool. |
