| The pliers has transverse groves in one jaw, with an extension on the other jaw to catch the end of a second wire, to form a "lineman's splice." The spring to open the jaws when the grip is relaxed is part of the patent.
The pliers would be used with a holding device such as the clamp shown in the drawing. |
