Description: |
The jaw adjustment is held by a combination of clamping wedges which force teeth in the movable jaw against rack teeth on the main shank. The pipe gripping feature is a roughened cylinder which would wedge against a jaw face, and which can be swung into the jaw opening space when needed to grip pipe or other round work pieces.
Corresponding Canadian patent no. CA-54,038 was issued November 11, 1896 and British patent GB-189619868 was registered Sept. 8, 1896.
