From the toolmaking mecca of Cincinnati comes an interesting, but
probably not very useful, combination gage and dividers. This
tool used two scribing arms mounted in pivoting blocks. One end
of each arm was standard divider points, but the other ends were
bent over, allowing this tool to be used for marking.
There are several problems with this design, but perhaps the most
vexing is the size of the reference head. The head is extremely
small (so as not to get in the way when used as dividers), but
this mans that there is very little to hold, and even less to
reference off, when used as a marking gage.
