Description: |
Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered. Little is known about this patent. There are no patent drawings available. This patent is in the database for reference only.
"This improvement is similar to Mr. Cepcutt's, No. 24, excepting that the right and left handed screws are, as in days of yore, of wood, instead of brass. How each of the two patentees has managed to exert bis mental powers on the re-contrivance of this modern antique, it would be difficult to divine, excepting on the supposition, that one of them has invented the right, and the other the left handed screw, it not being the mode of forming, but the mere application of these screws, which they claim; they say, that the only thing for which your petitioners would wish letters patent, is the application of the right and left handed screws in the construction of bedsteads."
