The process forms hollow metal handles for pliers, punches etc., and was used for some products in the BERNARD line produced by the Wm. Schollhorn Company of New Haven, CT.

Nothing in the specifications refers to the earlier patent no. 848,877 for forming a closed handle from sheet metal, although BERNARD "closed handle" pliers marked with both patent dates are known..
