The focus of the tool is the button holder, and stapler. The basic tool is a pliers made of sheet metal. The tension spring opens the jaws as described in patent 665,052.
One known example does not include the cutter portion shown in the drawings and described in the specifications. Another known example does, and includes markings reflecting Bernard's Apr. 6, 1915 patent 1,134,177 which also deals with shoe button application although those specifications do not note this patent. Its application was filed before this patent, and was not granted until after this patent, so their "pending" periods overlapped. |
