Description:
Bet you didn't realize that the vee belt was invented in 1860. Mr. Underwood's invention didn't really come into its own until the availability of vulcanized rubber belts. Vulcanized rubber had already been developed (see patent 3,633 but at the time this patent was issued, belting was primarily manufactured from leather. This patent's specification never mentions the material used to make this trapezoidal belt.
