Stan Schulz UNIVERSAL OFFSET SPEED WRENCH - edited from Dec. 1919 AUTOMOBILE DEALER AND REPAIRER (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
Brace wrench with gear head to offset the line of motion. Inspired by "Ford 4th Connecting Rod Bolts." The driving shaft of the brace handle and connection of the end gear to the socket are Woodruff keys. The intention for this construction is that the handle and sockets could be removed and replaced. The extended length of the brace shank beyond the geared head is an essential feature that holds the head steady when the wrench was used.
A known example is rusted and pitted so any manufacturer markings are obliterated. Manufacturer information obtained from a notice in a 1919 issue of "The Accessory And Garage Journal." |
