H.D. SMITH & Co. Carpenter's Pincers ( FLICKR - edited from 1900 trade journal)
Description:
One of the unique features of the design is the flat hammer face on the outside of the jaws.

Some examples marked H.D.S. & Co. and the patent date; others H.D.S. & Co. and the "circle S" trademark. Peck, Stow & Wilcox continued the line after H.D. Smith & Co. failed at the end of the 1920s.
