Stan Schulz Cobin Manufacturing wrench (IRON AGE) - FLICKR
|
Description: |
Combination quick and screw adjust wrench with a slide-on auxiliary pipe jaw. A stiff spring on the back side of the movable jaw allows the jaw to be shifted sufficiently to slide freely, and keeps the adjusting screw engaged with teeth cut in the face of the main shank.
Production information for a bicycle wrench version taken from an Aug. 3, 1893 IRON AGE announcement. That announcement does not show the pipe jaw attachment.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" notes Imperial Mfg. Co.'s production of larger sizes that included the supplemental pipe jaw. |
