Description: |
The patent is for an exterior spring which closes the jaws to keep them clamped onto the split ring until it is finally applied.
One known example in bronze is marked DENEUI PATENT 1931576. Another in "cast iron" is similarly marked on the inner surface of the handles. "DE NEUI" is on the handle with the adjustment screw; "PAT 1932576" is on the handle with the stud that supports the spring.
