Description: |
| The jaw openings are different sizes. The thumb screw shank has two sizes and pitches of threads so the greatest pressure on the threads occurs when the largest number of threads are engaged.
One or more notches in the "wing" of the thumb screw act as wrenches.
This was envisioned as a small pocket tool for spokes and spoke nipples of bicycle wheels. It could be scaled up in size to serve as a pipe wrench.
Advertised in bicycle trade journals of the early 1890s as the CHICAGO GRIP. Some of those ads include the manufacturer's names. |
