Description: |
The head of the main shank has gripping teeth facing forward and backward, so the wrench can turn pipe either direction without removing the chain and resetting the wrench. The chain wraps the pipe and wrench to form a "double bearing" which can be adjusted fairly closely since the gripping notches can catch on any link of the chain.
The manufacturer is identified from an 1891 trade journal advertisement. |
