Description: |
The two bars pivot, with a spring to spread them. The adjustment is held by a hinged pawl with gripping teeth engaging teeth on a stud on the opposite jaw piece. The shape of the teeth allows quick closing, with the pawl having to be swung open to open the wrench.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" notes a SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN item as evidence Mabrey contemplated producing the wrench. |
