Fonda, who seems like a possible match to our inventor: Born 1833-08-31 in Schodack, NY. In 1850 was living in Ferrisburg, VT. In 1860 was living in Charlotte, VT. In 1870 and 1880 was living in Laconia, NH. Occupations were listed as carriage maker, inventor, pattern maker. He served in the 12th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire during the Civil war and received a disability discharge in 1863. |
