Description: |
A swinging piece with a gripping face forces the work piece against the bearing surface of the hook jaw. Each size of this design would only work on one size of pipe or rod. A spring holds the swinging piece in either the fully open or working position.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" notes an 1886 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN item announcing Davis' intention to produce this wrench. |
