Description: |
Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered. Little is known about this patent. There are no patent drawings available. This patent is in the database for reference only.
"For an improvement in the Gun Lock, by reducing the number of component parts, changing them from a vertical, to a horizontal movement, and making the whole more simple, strong and durable; Ephraim Gilbert, Rochester, Monroe County, New York, April 3.
As there is much novelty in this lock, we intend hereafter to give an engraving of its principal parts, without which, it cannot be perfectly understood."
