Description: |
| The design shares features with Stanley's January 30, 1893 Canadian patent (no CA-41,781) and parallel March 20, 1894 patent (no. 516,661). Both patents use a spring-loaded pawl to hold the adjustment, and have a movable pipe gripping jaw positioned by a second spring. In this patent, the "hook" jaw slides inside a hollow handle, with a compression spring at the end to hold rack teeth on the shank of the hook jaw against the teeth on the pawl.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" assumes Stanley produced these tools. |
