Description: |
"This invention relates to the means for operating the carriage bearing the block to the saw, the object being to overcome the violent shock when the carriage is about to be moved forward; and it consists in the adaption and application to the carriage of a friction bar, and, interposed, elastic cushions, and operating the same by a friction wheel on a continuous rotary shaft one end of which is journalled in a movable bearing, so as to allow of the disengagement of the friction wheel from the friction bar by dropping the shaft, to allow the carriage to be drawn rearward, by means of a descending weight."Patent CA-8,461 denotes an extension of this patent. At that time, Canadian patents were issued for a period of only five years. Patent CA-16,281 was issued in 1883, constituting an additional extension of this patent. |
