Description: |
Another unusual head locking mechanism patent. This one is
particularly interesting, as there is no visual indication of how
it works-- the entire mechanism is buried in the head. When the
head is turned slightly the arm loosens, and turning the head
slightly in either direction will lock it again.
This gage uses a small moon-shaped brass cam riding in a groove
in the arm. This cam sits in a hollowed out portion of the head,
such that turning the head will force the cam into the side of
the head, thus locking the arm.
