Description: |
The fourth patent for the PARMELEE GIRTH GRIP non-marring pipe wrench. The patent is an improvement on pat. no. 648,706, with a focus on the means of latching the girth to the handle. The sliding latch is advanced or retracted by a rotating collar with a slot or abutment that is a segment of a spiral.
In the production wrench citing this patent, the slide advancing mechanism is a nut threaded on the outside of the handle shaft.
The Parmelee Wrench Company was a "closed corporation" incorporated by the family in 1905. WALWORTH took over production some time in 1914. Parmelee wrench production has at times operated as a separate company and at times as a division of a larger firm; Parmelee wrenches are still in production early in the 21st Century. |
