Description: |
The focus of the patent is the unique ratchet pawl which because of its circular shape is not liable to bend or shear compared to a pin or lever type pawl. The structure and dating of this ratchet appear to correspond to late 1920s ratchets produced by Snap-On and marked "Pat. Applied For."
The idea of a circular pawl was refined in Louis A. Hummel's reversible ratchet patent (no. 1,854,513) which was produced by Snap-On. |
