Description: |
The movable jaw slides from side to side by the rocking action of the handle. A thumb lever on the corner of the head allows for one-handed operation to adjust the size of the opening. The patent shows the wrench with flat nut jaws and curved pipe-gripping jaws.
The patent date appears on the L.G. AUTOMATIC WRENCH, although the external appearance and internal construction may be closer to Gaisser's Jan. 15, 1918 patent no. 1,253,227. The wrench was in production and advertised in 1916. A mid-1920s ad lists the wrench in 6 inch and 8 inch sizes, either black or nickel finish. |
