Description:
The tool forms a ring out of a sheet metal rhombus. The curves at the end of the handles are to form the initial curves; the curved shape of the jaws curls the points towards each other to form the circle. It would also work to fasten leather or similar materials.

A known example is marked only with the patent date. Manufacturer name supplied by an ad for the WOLVERINE HOG-RINGER in the 1874-1875 ADRIAN, Michigan City Directory. John Heesen patented a double-jaw hog ring pliers on April 27, 1880 (no. 226,915).
