Stan Schulz Biography of William Cronk Cronk Hanger Co.
|
Description: |
The tool combines hammer, wire-cutter, pliers, and the side jaw staple puller. The advantage to the side jaws is they will grip staples just above or below fence wire.
An illustration in a Febr. 25, 1897 IRON AGE "new product announcement" for Cronk's Combination Fencing Pliers matches this patent drawing, and the highlighted features also correspond to these specifications. This patent and Cronk's September 12, 1899 patent (no. 632,835) , are cited in advertisements for the Cronk No. 20 staple pulling pliers.
The idea of side extensions also appears in Cronk's June 29, 1886 pliers patent (no. 344,769).
