Description:
The wrench is a size-adjustable version of Dudley and Sherwood's March 25, 1879 jar wrench patent (no. 213,698). The drawings and specifications present several adjustment options. The strap portion is of some unspecified resilient material rather than the all-wood construction noted in the fixed size version.

This patent is noted in William Gregg's March 27, 1883 patent (no. 274,591 and James H. Christie's April 17, 1888 patent (no. 381,213).
