| Description: | | The movable jaw is held by a screw adjustment against a tapered surface.
The wrench was advertised in the June 26, 1879 IRON AGE, with "socket" jaws as an axle nut wrench, and with flat jaws as a "mechanic's wrench." The axle nut wrench version appears in 1880s ads and catalog listings.
The wrench as produced incorporated improvements noted in Hood's March 2, 1880 patent (no. 225,135). | |
