Description: |
A slide on the handle engages a spiral screw shaft with a worm gear. The worm gear drives an intermediate gear which engages rack teeth on the back side of the movable jaw.
Based on the assignment to Universal Tool, Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" posits the wrench was produced.
Hemphill and Evans' parallel patent (no. 1,391,179) was produced as the "HandE" wrench with production in Massachusetts.
This patent is referenced in the specifications for patent no. 3,555,939. |
