Description: |
The specifications mention F.L. George's March 1, 1892 pat. (no. 470,042), and imply this patent is related. This self-adjusting pipe wrench has a spring with an anti-friction roller to hold the jaws closed, and a movement limit link connecting the jaws.
A 15 inch example marked "Upton's Automatic" "Patented June 20, 1893." sold on eBay(R) in February 2008. It has the spring and roller, but no sign it ever had the limit link. Goehner, NE is a village of about 400. |
