Description: |
The patent is for the spring-loaded sliding jaw which can engage with a series of rack teeth to adjust the range of jaw opening. These work very well as clamps; the extended bar for the sliding jaw limits its usefulness in tight quarters. Many surviving examples match Paden's March 2, 1966 patent (no. 3,241,410).
The patents cited as references are a historic overview, ranging from 1874 through 1956: 148,259, 174,142, 469,562, 1,163,532, 2,280,005, 2,377,612, 2,399,454, 2,495,699, 2,524,689, and 2,769,359.
