Description: |
The movable jaw has a pivoting member with teeth that engage a rack on the shank. A single example bearing this patent date matches patent no. 467,151's features and appearance.
The basic idea was revised and re-worked in Carpenter's 1892 patent (no. 467,151) and 1894 patent (no. 515,070), which incorporate a "notch" toward the tip of the hook jaw.
The idea of gripping flats adjacent to corners also is incorporated in Carpenter's Nov. 17, 1891 patent (no. 463,137). |
