Description: |
The ratchet mechanism is designed to be simple and durable.
A known example is marked only PATENT JULY 12, 1910, on a tool with the ratchet on one end, and a hammer head and tapered poll on the other.
Alloy Artifacts connects the patent to the WAKEFIELD No. 24 ratchet used for hex drive socket sets produced by the Wakefield Wrench Co. of Worcester, MA. Ads for such sets appear after formation of the WAKEFIELD "All Steel" WRENCH Co. in 1924. |
