Description: |
A toggle in the movable jaw presses a toothed piece against rack teeth on the main bar. The design appears to be a refinement and improvement on Brown's Oct. 17, 1911 patent No. 1,006,057.
A known example is marked "C.P.BROWN." The Brown Wrench Co. had been formed in 1909-1910 at Ronceverte and perhaps had continued to operate during the period.
Brown received a parallel patent (no. 1,455,424) for a chuck for a bit brace. |
