Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Benjamin E. Jarvis, Inc.
|
Description: |
A 12-inch bandsaw matching this design has been seen in some 1920s catalogs from the Kindt-Collins Co. In the illustration the saw is labeled, "Jarvis Bench Saw Patent Pending". We have seen an example of this saw with a badge on the upper wheel cover: "Jarvis Bench Band Saw / Mfd by Benj. E. Jarvis, Inc. / Newark, N.J. Pat's Pend." Cast into the edge of the saw table is "Jarvis Bench Saw" and "Patented 1923". By 1928 this saw was being made in both 12-inch and 16-inch versions. |
