Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Gilman & Co. (formerly Gilman & Townsend)
|
Description: |
The patent includes a "snath wrench" for adjusting the eye bolt which holds the blade to the snath, and which also has "pin spanner" projections to tighten and loosen a nut with recessed notches on another eye bolt which allows the handle to be adjusted. The wrench is described in the specifications but is not included in the list of patented features. The scythe snath, and presumably the wrench as well, was manufactured by Gilman & Townsend of Springfield, Vermont. |
