Sold as the Steven's #110 Parallel Divider (ca 1890)

Example (image #2) marked pat. Feb 23. 86.

(from advertisement)

We do not claim this tool as a substitute for the ordinary divider so long in use by mechanics. In laying out work on a surface as it ordinarily comes fromj the planer, it will be found invaluable, the point of pressure being directly over the stationary point of the tool. With ordinary care, there will be no trouble with the tool jumping from the center punch mark.

Everything being so rigid and compact about it, there is no tendency for the marking point to follow any irregularities there may be on the surface being laid out.

It is very easy to set, the needle being graduated to fractions of an inch, and by means of micrometer device, the tool may be moved to a thousandth of an inch.

It can be used with pencil and pen if desired.

A pump center can be furnished with tool by means of which a circle can be scribed on work laid out around a drilled hole, or bushing in a drill jig or other similar work. The marking parts are made of the best tool steel and the points carefully hardened. Regular size will draw 7 inch circle.

Price, $1.50. Long bar, 24 inch circle, 50c. Pump center, 25c. Lead pencil holder, 50c.
