Description: |
It will be seen that after the instrument is once adjusted for use, which can be readily done, there is no danger of displacement of the parts either by handling, dropping, or otherwise. My invention is designed, to obviate the use of the expensive spring-top caliper, divider, and similar instruments. As applied to calipers it answers equally well for those used for calipering inside as well as outside surfaces. In lieu of a flat spring, E, a small spiral spring may be placed in the hole g, to force the arms or forks apart.
Having described my improvements in calipers and other similar instruments, what I claim as new, and of my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is;
1. The combination, with the slotted standard or screw B, of the screw D, for holding the adjusting-nut C,, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the upper part of the body or part A, of the spring E, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
