Description:

The movable jaw is adjusted by a disk with a helical gear cut in on its conical face that engages curved rack teeth cut on the back side of the main shank. The description contrasts this helical threaded disk's action with that employed in J.D. Dale's Aug. 21, 1855 patent (no. 13456).
