Description: |
This invention relates to planers having cutters both above and below the stock. The under cutter is typically placed well beyond the upper cutter, but if there are any protrusions in the bottom of the board, then the stock lifts up while passing below the upper cutter, creating an uneven thickness. The innovation is to use a "preparatory under cutter to rough off or true up the under surface of the board or stick by removing any knots or projections therefrom before it arrives at the surface-plate below the upper cutter". |
