Description: |
This design covers a split nut used for the adjustment rod on a pair of calipers. When the caliper spring is pressing against the nut it holds securely, but when the pressure is released the nut can slide freely on the rod.
This was used for many years on Starrett calipers and dividers, and some early versions have this patent date marked in a semi-circle on the nut. |
