Description: |
A quick-adjust wrench in which the setting is held by a wedge action of two moveable jaw sections and a tapered portion of the handle. The stop at the small end of the handle keeps the parts together. The drawings and specifications discuss auxiliary jaws and setting locks that were not included on the wrench. Advertised in 1907 as the NEW DEPARTURE wrench. A small version of this wrench was distributed as an advertising specialty and appears stamped with the names of a wide range of retail businesses.
Corresponding Canadian patent CA-97,349 was granted February 6, 1906.
Long modified this design with subsequent patents (890,146 -- June 9, 1908 and 955,974 -- April 26, 1910). |
