Description: |
This is a another enhancement to the Marden Patent of 1872
(125,823), which adds a second adjustable fence referencing a
second point on the back of the arm. This second point is
intended to mark the hinge depth.
These pieces are almost always mis-identified as Marden's Patent
by dealers, and even one Chapin-Stevens catalog had both the
Marden's and Thompson's gages identified as Marden's. This
mistaken identity is so pervasive that you will often find
Thompson's gage desribed as "Marden's Improved Patent".
