| This design improves on Cantelo's earlier patents 290,396 and 454,848; it uses a cam-lock lever to fix the handle angle. Curiously, one of the witnesses on this patent received a drawknife patent issued the same day, but applied for 19 months later than this one: Alban Andrén's patent 543,144, which uses a simpler thumbscrew mechanism to lock the handles. |
