Description: |
This is a very unusual adaptation of a standard slitting gage.
It uses nicker-like markers at each end of the bar, held in place
by friction and their tapered dovetail shape. The head carries a
third point, and is adjustable laterally as well as along the
bar. To prevent the bar from racking, a tongued shoe is used
on the head, registering in a groove on the bar.
This layout allows the gage to mark two distances: one registering
the face of the head (using one of the markers on the bar), and
one registering off the bar itself (using the marker on the head).
